Bear Creek Dome – North Branch, MN
View Video from World’s Greenest Homes

49′ Diameter Mid Profile 3200 sqft
Located 400′ from the Natural Spaces Domes office.
This dome has been featured on “World’s Greenest Homes” on Discovery’s Planet Green channel. Rated as an Energy Star 5+ home (the highest rating) with a H.E.R.S. score of 55 (a very good rating, especially for a home built in 2007 with fiberglass insulation). The large grouping of 9 triple pane triangle skylights provides morning solar heat in the winter, heating up the concrete slab, waiting for the radiant heating system to take over.

29′ Diameter (400 sq. ft main floor)
We are showing our small dome prototype that has 400 sq. ft. (37 sq. m) on the main floor and a loft you walk up into on a narrow, but conventional stair. You can stand up in this loft with 8’ ceilings, sleep in a queen-size bed, store your clothes in a closet and look out through 12 ft (3.66 m) wide windows. The kitchen has conventional appliances, the bath has a nice shower, the dining room can fit 6-8 people and the living room has room for more furniture than just one couch.

The sleeping area and separate study/library overlook the 2 1/2 story living/dining room. There is a large bath in the extension. Then, there is the cupola on top for a quiet retreat area. The Double Domes – http://www.thedoubledomes.com/
The domes were originally designed by Dennis Odin Johnson in 1975 for a couple of doctors with 4 children and built with a 2 story basketball half-court and rec room. This dome is available and ideal for vacations, family reunions, and corporate retreats. Sarah and Peter own and rent this 6 bedroom/5 bath double geodesic dome home sitting on a 2-acre lot. The house itself is an absolute gem -truly a once in a lifetime home that the famous architect – Buckminster Fuller, himself – has actually been in before. The Double Domes’ 7,787 square foot interior can comfortably accommodate almost any number, making it the perfect location for those special events. Each dome is a 44’/13.5 diameter mid-profile dome.

Kathy and Ray are now in the finishing stages of the interior. Once the dome is finished, the main floor will have one bedroom and a large bathroom. The second floor contains an open study as well as another bathroom and full bath. It has an attic cupola accessible by a custom log sided monk stairs seen in the picture below.
