Natural Spaces Domes Office & Model Homes
Natural Spaces Domes currently has 7 dome structures located on 50 acres in rural North Branch, Minnesota, about 45 minutes north of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. We are open Monday through Friday 9AM to 5PM CST. Weekends and evenings by prior appointment. We hope to show that our domes are efficient, economical, and earth friendly. Bear Creek Dome
Bear Creek Dome is the newest addition to our family of domes. It boasts 3200 sq. ft. of beautiful, natural wood with eco-friendly materials and systems, and a warm, open feeling. Bear Creek dome was designed with Mother Nature in mind, incorporating an ultra-efficient radiant floor heating system, instantaneous hot water heaters, triple pane skylights and windows with low ‘E’ coatings and argon gas, 18″ thick walls and roof with R-values from 57 to 62. The dome is a 49′ diameter mid profile.

Forest Dome
The “Forest Dome” encompasses 3000 sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms on 3 floors. This dome was built in 1975 and extensively remodeled in 1983. The main floor is very open from the living room to the dining room to the kitchen. The large master bedroom on the lower level has 6 large triple pane triangle skylights with a view to the creek. The dome is a “combination” 45′ low profile and 46′ mid profile with 3 floors.

Guest Dome
Attached to the “Forest Dome” is a 30’ diam. low profile guest dome / conference dome. The guest / conference dome has over 1000 sf on one level. Originally built for Dennis’ late sister-in-law , Connie, it is a complete one bedroom, handicap accessible home.

Office Dome
The Natural Spaces Domes “Office Dome”, a 36’ diam. high profile 3000 sq. ft. 3 story dome is attached to the Forest Dome. The main floor and upper floor serve as office space. However; it is very easy to envision the room arrangements as a bedroom home. You are welcome to tour throughout the “Office Dome” complex. The interior triangle panels have a white stain and the trim is flamingo pink and turquoise.

The MinneDome
29′ Diameter (400 sq. ft main floor)
We are showing our small dome prototype that has 400 sq. ft.(37 sq. m) on the main floor and a loft you walk up into on a narrow, but conventional stair. You can stand up in this loft with 8’ ceilings, sleep in a queen size bed, store your clothes in a closet and look out through 12 ft (3.66 m) wide windows.The kitchen has conventional appliances, the bath has a nice shower, the dining room can fit 6-8 people and the living room has room for more furniture than just one couch.
Screen Porch Dome
Our 25’ diam. “Screen Porch Dome” creates a wonderful “people aviary” where the birds, squirrels and other animals can watch you inside the dome. The dome is attached between the Forest Dome and the Guest Dome. It sits out on a promontory with a 270 degree view overlooking our oak forested valley with year round Bear Creek flowing 30’ below.

Wood Shop
“Shop Dome #1” is a 45’ diam. low profile 1500 sq. ft. dome wood shop where we custom manufacture your dome components. It is insulated and wood paneled, operating year round.
Window Shop
“Shop Dome #2” is a 40’ diam. low profile 1250 sq. ft. dome skylight shop, devoted to the manufacturing of our custom dome skylights. We invite you to take a look at how we assemble the best dome skylight up there.
We do not restrict you with specific viewing times. We are open 9am to 5pm weekdays. If you want to come after 5pm or on weekends, call us to see what we can arrange. You can also call ahead to get personal directions.
We will be happy to discuss floor plans with you. For this service we ask that you call ahead and set up an appointment. We prefer to meet you face to face and personally discuss your dome dreams. With all of the different real domes we have, we can show you how or why your plan works or why it needs to be modified.
You can come to our office and review over 500 plans in our plan file catalogs. If you want to compare different plans we can give you an 11” x 17” copy of the main floor of several plans to take home.
If you are ready to continue, we will give you a design estimate on the spot and complete our work authorization. You give us 50% deposit and you’re immediately on our plan schedule.
If you find an existing plan that suits your needs, we can have them made into your plan and copies made. If you want to make changes to one of our existing plans to suit your needs or your site, we can discuss the viability and the costs.
We will also review your plans and ideas via the phone if you email us a copy of your plan first.

We have hundreds of domes located within 1 to 2 hours of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. Every year we put together a tour of 10 to 15 home sites in May and October.

United States Domes
We have been selling domes as Natural Spaces Domes since 1978. Prior to that, starting in 1971, Dennis Odin Johnson owned and operated The Big Outdoors People dome company.
We have sold domes in all 50 states and over 13 foreign countries. Almost all of these domes are private residences – some are commercial or institutional.
Most of these dome owners love to show off their dome to serious, prospective dome owners. We can usually find a Natural Spaces Dome somewhere near you. Chances are, we have the dome owners’ permission to give out their names and phone number. You may then call the dome owners to see when they are available and when you can set up an appointment.
Domes in Canada, Japan, Cyprus, Chile, and all over Europe.
Natural Spaces Domes also has domes that can be viewed with the owner’s permission in several foreign countries. Please contact us for more information. We have domes in Canada, Japan, Chile, Romania, Western Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Cyprus, United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, Spain and Norway (in 2014).
We pride ourselves in the fact that at the end of the dome building process, we are on great terms with our dome customers and are able to refer people to them. We hope we can refer people to your dome one day.
